D. Massimo, The Singing Stones of Susa: the Hellenistic verse inscriptions from Seleucia-on-the-Eulaeus.
in: J. Klooster et al. (eds.), Hellenistic Poetry beyond Alexandria (Hellenistica Groningana), Peeters, exp. publication date 2027.
This paper examines the Greek verse inscriptions from the site of Seleucia-on-the-Eulaeus (Susa). It analyses these texts from a literary point of view and considers how they might fit into what we know of the cultural environment of the city of Susa in the Seleucid and Parthian period, with the aim of placing them on the wider map of the Hellenistic poetic production.

D. Massimo, A deceased husband and his wife in conversation on a funerary altar from Imperial Rome: Notes on CIL VI 12652/IGUR III 1250.
In: C. Henriksén, M. Horster (eds), Carmina romana - in memoriam Bengt E. Thomasson (Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum Auctarium Series Nova), Berlin-Boston, exp. publication date 21st September 2026.
This contribution focuses on a funerary altar, likely of Tiberian date, which bears a bilingual (Greek–Latin) inscription distributed over three sides (CIL VI 12652/IGUR III 1250). It commemorates two freedpeople, Atimetus Anterotianus and Claudia Homonea, who contracted marriage after gaining their freedom. The distribution of the text is exceptionally elaborate, and the verse sections display a complex interplay of speaking voices throughout the poems. This contribution focuses on the short Greek poem and considers its role within the monument and what effect it may have produced on its audience(s).
